This course will explore the relationship between Black women in the US and the Diaspora with particular emphasis on the Americas and the Caribbean. Through active discussion in class and online, we will identify the ways in which women's rights issues transcend time and place and continue to inform our culture and politics. A close reading of four novels will guide our journey.

A Dirge: a song or hymn of grief or lamentation; especially : one intended to accompany funeral or memorial rites; a slow, solemn, and mournful piece of music

Dinner at Shinjuku
My boyfriend took me to an all you can eat sushi buffet! It was the first time I've ever been to one. I love love love sushi and this resturaunt really topped it off. I've never tasted sushi so good. I wish I had taken more pictures but I was so busy enjoying myself and trying out the different types of sushi along with other Japanese cuisines. I really think everyone should visit Shinjuku. I love it and can't wait to go back!!!
A WONDERFUL DAY AT CENTRAL PARK
My boyfriend and I spent our Anniversary together in Central Park. As New Yorker's we are always on the go and living a fast pace so I decided to surprise him with a nice Italian picnic. I never had a picnic in Central Park so I decided to slow it down and enjoy the beautiful scenery at Central Park Cherry Hill. Hey trust me we enjoyed ourselves and it was a nice new experience. It was much better than the traditional dinner reservation at 7:30 he was totally surprised. I’m looking forward to another anniversary hopefully it would be at a special location where we can make new memories.
